The Darkest Hour might kick Battle: Los Angeles' ass for the coolest alien invasion flick of the year, what with it's cool Russian aesthetic and it's fresh, young cast. But they aren't going to win anybody over with a trailer this lousy, featuring mostly the same footage we saw in the first trailer, drowned by blaring house beats that made me want to drive a fork into my ears.
Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby, Max Minghella, and Rachael Taylor are four friends vacationing in Moscow, who find themselves fighting for survival when a horde of invisible, energy based aliens try to take over the planet. Special effects superstar Timur Bekmambetov is producing, with Chris Gorak(Right at your Door) directing. Check out the latest trailer below...
The Darkest Hour probably isn't much of an Oscar threat, but it'll release right in the thick of the season on December 23rd.
