Audio Interview: Jennifer Westfeldt talks her directorial debut, 'Friends with Kids'

Jennifer Westfeldt has the look and style of a Hollywood star, but from the beginning she has never been content to let the chips just fall where they may. She took her career by the reins in a big way when she co-wrote and starred in Kissing Jessica Stein, as a heterosexual woman taking the tentative and award steps into a lesbian relationship. Westfeldt's unique creative voice helped lead that film to great indie success, which she spun into a number of roles on television and Broadway. Where she has always found the most reward is in the projects she has written herself, such as in her upcoming comedy, Friends with Kids. Westfledt wrote the script, makes her directorial debut, and stars in the star-studded film alongside Adam Scott, Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Megan Fox, Chris O'Dowd, Ed Burns, and her long-time partner, Jon Hamm.

Drawing immediate comparisons to the anxiety filled, New York set works of Woody Allen, Friends with Kids tells the story of two best friends(Westfeldt and Scott) who decide to forego the whole relationship deal and just have a kid with one another, as an attempt to avoid the pitfalls their boring, married friends have fallen into.  With the film set to open on March 9th, I had a chance to talk with Westfeldt briefly about what it was like stepping behind the camera to lead such a powerhouse comedic cast, working with Hamm on such a passion project, and the possibility of more Kissing Jessica Stein in the future.....
