*UPDATE* Chloe Moretz offered the lead in the 'Carrie' remake

*UPDATE* Well, that didn't take long. Moretz has confirmed via her Twitter feed that she has accepted the role.*

Who's Mr. Wrongy McWrongerson? Me, that's who. Just a couple days ago I suggested Haley Bennett would beat out Chloe Moretz for the title role in the Carrie remake, and now today comes word that Moretz has been offered the lead after a meeting with director Kimberly Peirce.

Moretz hasn't taken the deal yet, but it seems like the kind of fiery(literally) role she's gravitated to during her brief career. Plus it makes sense for MGM and Screen Gems, who want someone with a bit more notoriety to draw in viewers. Just coming off a supporting role in the Martin Scorsese's critically acclaimed Oscar winner, Hugo, Moretz will be seen next in Dark Shadows opposite Johnny Depp.

Still no word on who will take on the role of Carrie's strict, fundamentalist mother. Julianne Moore and Jodie Foster are currently the names being floated. [Deadline]
