New pics from 'The Host', based on the book by Stephenie Meyer

After a meaningless trailer tease featuring absolutely zero footage, we're now getting what are the best real shots we've seen yet from The Host, Andrew Niccol's adaptation of the teen-lit novel by Stephenie Meyer(Twilight). With The Hunger Games already busting box office records, you can see why Summit Entertainment doesn't want to go too long without a similar, potential franchise after The Twilight Saga wraps up this November.

The new photos feature Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons, and a rather intimidating Diane Kruger looking like that car just pissed her off royally. Damn hybrids! Niccol both adapted the book and will direct the rather confusing futuristic sci-fi story about an earth where humans have been taken over by benevolent alien "Souls". One such soul named Wanderer has inhabited the body of Melanie Stryder(Ronan in a dual role), a strong willed woman who desperately wants to find her loved ones, holed up with one of the last remaining rebel factions. Kruger is 'The Seeker", who has the job of converting Melanie's mind completely, but finding her hard to control. There's also a love story(isn't there always?) involving two guys who somehow manage to fall in love with both Wanderer and Melanie, which should make for some odd dinner conversation.

William Hurt, Jake Abel, and Frances Fisher co-star. The Host is set to open next year on March 29th. Check out the rest of the images below....[Oh No They Didn't]
