The 'Evil Dead' remake adds 'Melrose Place' star Jessica Lucas
After a flurry of casting in the wake of Lily Collins' departure, it's been pretty quiet lately on the Evil Dead remake front. So far the Fede Alvarez directed, Sam Raimi produced horror has stuck to a young, up 'n coming group of actors to make up the friends who will be tormented by legions of the undead. Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, and Jane Levy are already set, and now two more figure into the equation.
Jessica Lucas, late of the revived Melrose Place series, is the latest to join the cast. Her biggest screen role came as part of 2008's Cloverfield, but most recently she had the misfortune of appearing in Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son. Hey, she's gotta pay the bills, right? She'll be joined by Elizabeth Blackmore, an actress who has appeared mostly in Australian stuff.
Diablo Cody wrote the latest draft of the script, which Alvarez co-wrote with Rodo Sayagues. The buzz for this has died down considerably lately, but I'm sure it'll pick back up by the time it opens in April 2013. [THR]
