Sure Shots: 'Chronicle 2'; Alexandre Aja; 'Halloween 3D'

* With Chronicle director Josh Trank now circling two superhero films, Fantastic Four and Venom, the film's writer is sticking closer to home for his gig. 20th Century Fox has signed Max Landis to return to writer the Chronicle sequel, which should surprise nobody since the low budget film about three teens who gain superpowers has grossed more than $100M and achieved wide critical acclaim. It's unclear right now if Trank or any of the young stars will be back. Dane Dehaan in particular has a lot coming up, so he may be harder to get. [Deadline]

* While he may not have decided to return for Piranha 3DD, Alexandre Aja is keeping himself plenty busy. Next on his schedule may be Undying Love, an adaptation of the graphic novel from the best horror comics artist in the biz, Tomm Coker. The story takes place in Hong Kong, and follows former soldier John Sargent who has fallen in love with a Chinese woman named Mei. The only problem is she's a vampire, and in order to free her from the curse he sets off to kill the vampire who made her, only to discover it's one of the most powerful vampires of all-time. Coker and Daniel Freedman are adapting their own comic, and hopefully Aja signs on because it'd be perfect for him. [Deadline]

* Those anxiously awaiting the return of slasher icon Michael Myers in Halloween 3D will have to wait until....well we're not really sure. Originally set to be released on October 26th, the film has now been bumped totally off the schedule. The Drive Angry duo of Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer wrote the initial script, but it's been put on the backburner with Dimenstion Films accepting new pitches. [Shocktilyoudrop]
