Owen Wilson may join Tina Fey for 'Admission'
After earning the best reviews of his career in last year's Woody Allen charmer, Midnight in Paris, Owen Wilson has seen his name mentioned for a number of diverse projects. Warren Beatty may select him for his Howard Hughes biopic...if it ever gets off the ground. Plus he'll stay in the comedic real re-teaming with Vince Vaughn in Interns, and in the cryogenics laugher Freezing People is Easy. Next he may see himself working alongside funnywoman Tina Fey in an adaptation of Jean Hanff Korelitz's novel, Admission.
Fey has been circling the film since last year, but appears to be very close to signing. Paul Weitz will direct, with the story following Portia Nathan, an admissions officer at Princeton who forges a relationship with a 17-year old prospect that threatens her personal and professional life. Wilson would play a colleague from an alternative school who falls in love with Portia.
Wilson hasn't accepted the role yet, and considering the amount of stuff he's circling it's unclear if he will. The film would mark a change of pace for him and Fey, with the tone leaning more towards the Weitz directed In Good Company, and less like his Little Fockers. Adding to that is the presence of Karen Croner as screenwriter, who wrote the script for One True Thing, which earned Meryl Streep one of her numerous Best Actress Academy Award nominations.
Filming is set to begin in June, during Fey's hiatus from 30 Rock. [Vulture]
