Sure Shots: 'The Seventh Son'; 'Cogan's Trade'; Anne Heche

* Probably still best known for her role in Rushmore, or perhaps The Sixth Sense, Olivia Williams is set to join the cast of The Seventh Son, based on the first book in The Wardstone Chronicles series authored by Joseph Delaney. Set in the 1700s, the story follows the seventh son of a seventh son, born with the ability to see and sense evil, taught in the use of his powers by a powerful "Spook". Jeff Bridges, Antje Traue, Julianne Moore, Ben Barnes, Alicia Vikander, and Kit Harington star, with Sergei Bodrov(Mongol) directing. [Deadline]

* Well this was a bad move. One of the most anticipated films of the year, Cogan's Trade, has been given a new, boring title that makes it seem less distinctive. Now titled Killing Them Softly(ugghh), the Andrew Dominik directed film stars Brad Pitt as a mafia hitman sent to find the men who robbed a protected poker game. Ray Liotta, James Gandolfini, Richard Jenkins, Scoot McNairy, Sam Shepard, Garrett Dillahunt, Ben Mendelsohn and Bella Heathcoate will star when it opens on September 21st.

* Anne Heche, Rufus Sewell, and Alycia Debnam-Carey have joined the next film from Danish filmmaker, Christian E. Christiansen(The Roommate). Titled The Occult, the supernatural horror follows a commune on the verge of seeing a prophecy of the arrival of the devil's daughter come to pass. But as the day approaches, a series of murders causes widespread panic, and a questioning whether the prophecy is coming true or if those who know too much are being silenced. Christiansen hasn't shown much as a filmmaker, but Heche and Sewell alone make this a project worth watching for me.  [Variety]
