Y'know, there's always room for a new historical comedy to fill up the holes in the sub-genre. Hysteria, a new period piece from Tanya Wexler, has created a certain electricity over the last year that has had people buzzing with anticipation, and may surprise some if it gets right up in there near the top of the box office charts. Hysteria is the film that has been affectionately referred to as the "vibrator comedy", as it stars Hugh Dancy as a 19th century doctor who invents the vibrator, and begins using it to cure all sorts of ills, in particular "female hysteria". Orgasm therapy? Sign me up, please.
