Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson to star in David Michod's 'The Rover'

As great as Guy Pearce has been throughout his career, one of his finest turns came when working alongside director David Michod in 2010's Animal Kingdom.  And now that Pearce has properly scratched his sci-fi itch with Lockout and Prometheus, he's going back to Michod for his next promising project.

Pearce will star in The Rover, a near future set film about a man who treks the Australian outback to find his car, stolen by a gang of thieves. As if we haven't heard enough from Robert Pattinson this week, he'll be adding this film to his busy schedule as well. He'll play Reynolds, the deserted brother of one of the thieves, left behind when a run-in with the police goes wrong. Pearce will take on the lead as the guy in search of his vehicle, which contains something precious to him.

For Pattinson, who just joined the Saddam Hussein flick, Mission: Blacklist, it's another chance to venture into unfamiliar territory and work with a top notch director. And the best part is that his name alone will put this film in front of more eyes, which hopefully will get Michod and Pearce even bigger films down the line. [Deadline]
