Trailer Time: 'The Amazing Spider-Man', starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone

Sony couldn't  have chosen a worse time to release a new, and likely final, trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man. Let's see...many people have already been proper blown away by The Avengers; and the trailers for The Dark Knight Rises and Prometheus have appealed to that part of us that loves a grand mystery. So what does Spider-Man bring to the table, other than the rebooting of a character we haven't been away from very long?

According to this trailer, The Amazing Spider-Man isn't offering much of anything, and that's a shame considering how effective many of the previous ones have been. Gone is the perfect mix of grittiness and Spidey's trademark wit, replaced with rather generic action and lots of footage we've already seen. We do get some new stuff, with an increased focus on The Lizard(Rhys Ifans), who has been kept hidden about as well as Sony could have hoped. On the plus side: Garfield still looks to be a spot on perfect choice to play Spidey, and the same goes for Emma Stone. The aerial brawl between Spidey and The Lizard is insane, and Marc Webb appears to have done a good job capturing the fluidity of his movements, especially when fighting.

The Amazing Spider-Man is directed by Marc Webb, and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Sally Field, Rhys Ifans, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, and Embeth Davidtz. Look for it to swing into theaters on July 3rd....
