Trailer Time: 'The Loved Ones', starring Robin McLeavy and Xavier Samuel

"The Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets Sixteen Candles"? Those are pretty strong comparisons, but bold words lobbied in its favor has never been something The Loved Ones has lacked. The film was a hit on the festival circuit back in 2009, winning the Midnight Madness award at the Toronto International Film Festival. Yet, despite all the praise in the world for Sean Byrne's horror film, it's never received a proper release. You can pick up a UK only version of the DVD, but otherwise it's looked as if the film would go the way of other highly lauded horrors that never saw the light of day, such as All the Boys Love Mandy Lane.

Well that turns out to not have been the case. Thanks to Tugg, a new internet service that allows you to "demand" films to be screened in your city. The film has turned out to be huge on Tugg, with screenings pending in Austin, Houston, New York, and more. Pretty cool.

A new trailer has been released in order to help build up excitement and hopefully draw in even more support. Written and directed by Byrne, the story follows Lola(Robin McLeavy), a shy high school girl who makes the mistake of asking the wrong guy out to prom: the popular Brent(Xavier Samuel). When he shoots her down in favor of another, Lola and her crazy daddy decide to kidnap Brent and throw their own prom. Let's just say things don't turn out so well for Brent.

So check out the trailer for The Loved Ones yourself, and if interested you can hit up Tugg and request to bring it to your own. Maybe we should host one here in the Nation's Capital? What do you guys think?
