Is Dredd a movie that people are genuinely excited about? It seems to be flying under the radar a little bit, especially in light of its comic book origins. It's likely just been swallowed up by all the attention given to The Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man, and The Dark Knight Rise. It even seems to be trailing behind Total Recall, which has had its own share of problems gaining traction. Perhaps that will change when we finally start getting some footage of it in the form of a teaser trailer, which should be right around the corner.
For now we'll have to settle for the first official poster for the film, featuring Karl Urban(Star Trek) as the grim faced, helmet-headed Judge Dredd. Co-starring Olivia Thirlby and Lena Headey, the story takes place in a violent future where the cops now have brutal authority to stop crime and punish offenders. Pete Travis(Vantage Point) is directing, based on a script by Alex Garland(28 Days Later).
