After basically making the same cop movie over and over again for the last decade, David Ayer(Training Day, Harsh Times, Dark Blue) is doing a little something different with End of Watch. Sure, it's still a film about LA cops who are corrupt, over-matched, or both, but he's taking a distinct visual turn that looks to be for the better.
The newly released poster bears a resemblance to the tone he struck in the recently released trailer. It's grittier, rougher, and more action intensive than some of the other stuff Ayer has done, and the decision to shoot it in a documentary style looks like a good one. Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena star as two longtime cop partners who make the bad decision to go rogue investigating a local drug lord, which turns them into instant targets for revenge. Anna Kendrick, Cody Horn, and America Ferrera co-star.
End of Watch opens on September 28th.
