Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker soar in a new clip and poster from 'The Amazing Spider-Man'

Spider-Man and New York City go together like peanut butter and jelly. The two are totally inseparable, iconic in a way that no other superhero can hope to match. Superman and Batman live in fictional cities we have no connection to. Captain America encompasses the entire country, not just one corner of it. What happens to New York in real life is often reflected in the Spidey comics, like in the aftermath of 9/11, and I don't think I'm going too far in saying that some of the stories told in the wake of that tragedy helped a lot of people cope.

Sam Raimi recognized the unbreakable link between Spider-Man and New York, putting it front and center in many of the posters for his trilogy. That hasn't really been the case for Marc Webb's relaunch, however. Until now that is, with the release of a new poster that shows Spider-Man(Andrew Garfield) and Gwen Stacy(Emma Stone) high above, with NYC looming large in the background. It's a gorgeous shot, really, and I hope is indicative of the part the Big Apple will play in the film.

Also, we have the umpteenth new clip, which shows a tender moment between Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy as he tells her all the reasons why he has to be the guy to bring The Lizard(Rhys Ifans) down. The Amazing Spider-Man opens on July 3rd.....[Sky Movies/Twitter]
