'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' scribes to write 'Jurassic Park 4'

We've been getting teased with the idea of another Jurassic Park film for quite awhile, but it didn't seem as if it would ever happen. Then last year word started to pick up when Steven Spielberg and Mark Protosevich started some early talks on the film, although it was still dubious if it would actually happen. Spielberg would put everything to rest last July when he revealed that a story was in place, and that Jurassic Park 4 was a definite go. Cause for celebration? Well....Spielberg was quick to tell us that he wouldn't be directing, and *poof* any interest I had in it went away. But now there may be reason to get excited, as Deadline reveals that Amanda Silver and Rick Joffa, writers of last year's Rise of the Planet of the Apes, have come aboard to pen the screenplay.

Obviously, the two know a thing or two about reviving old franchises, so their hiring is a smart move. They've got some serious work to do, and in my mind more of an uphill battle than they faced with 'Apes'. Jurassic Park is still fresh in the minds of many people, and along with that comes the memory of the dreadful Jurassic Park III. Thanks, Joe Johnston.

Jurassic Park has grossed nearly $2B worldwide, so it's clear why Universal is so keen on bringing it back. But does the idea of rampaging dinosaurs still have the same appeal as it did before? Especially without Spielberg behind the camera? I'm not so sure, but this is a development that is a definite step in the right direction.
