Sure Shots: Edward James Olmos; 'They Came Together'; 'The Mortal Instruments'

* Edward James Olmos(American Me) is set to play the Mexican villain in 2 Guns, the comic book adaptation starring Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington. Directed by Baltasar Kormakur(Contraband), the story follows Trench and Steadman, two thieves who decide to ripoff a bank, thinking it won't be a big deal since it's a front for mob money. However, the Steadman doesn't know that Trench is actually a DEA agent. And what Trench doesn't know is that Steadman is keeping some pretty big secrets himself. Bill Paxton and Paula Patton will co-star. [Variety]

* Noureen Dewulf is the latest to join David Wain's romantic comedy satire, They Came Together. Starring Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler as a businessman and small business owner respectively, the film follows their inevitable, cliche-filled path to love. Ed Helms and Jason Mantzoukas co-star, with Dewulf playing the assistant to Rudd's character. Dewulf is next set to star in the FX series, Anger Management, based on the 2003 Jack Nicholson/Adam Sandler film. [THR]

* No no no, don't be confused. While Sony may have canned production on an adaptation of The Mortal Instruments a few months ago, the film was revived barely a month later, seemingly no worse for wear. Harold Zwart came on to direct, with Lily Collins still set to star as Clary Fray, a young woman who discovers she's part of a long line of Shadowhunters, who protect the world from demons. With Jamie Campbell Bower(Camelot) now apparently set to play love interest, Jace Wayland, a new member has been added to the cast. French actress Jemima West(The Borgias) has signed on in an undisclosed role, although some are speculating she'll play fellow Shadowhunter, Isabelle Lightwood. The Mortal Instruments is based on the series of novels by Cassandra Clare, and is expected to hit theaters on August 23rd 2013. [Variety]
