Rob Reiner may play Leonardo DiCaprio's dad in 'The Wolf of Wall Street'

Another day, another bit of casting for Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street, although this one is more surprising than the rest. THR reports that actor/filmmaker/activist Rob Reiner is in talks to make his first on screen appearance in a decade, playing Max, the father of Jordan Belfort, the scummy stockbroker at the heart of the story.

We don't know how large the part would be, but we can assume the bulk of his scenes would be opposite Leonardo DiCaprio, who is taking on the Belfort role. Based on Belfort's memoir, we'll get to see how his life of drinking, partying, and corruption derailed his promising career. Jonah Hill, Jean Dujardin, Margot Robbie, Jon Bernthal, Kyle Chandler, and Cristin Milioti will co-star, with Terence Winter providing the screenplay.

Reiner hasn't appeared in a feature film since Alex & Emma back in 2003, which he was also behind the camera for. Once a prolific and highly sought filmmaker back in the 80s and 90s with movies such as The Princess Bride and When Harry Met Sally, Reiner has faded into the background a little bit. He most recently directed The Magic of Belle Isle, which stars Morgan Freeman and is currently available On Demand. He also directed the coming of age comedy, Flipped. Production on The Wolf of Wall Street kicks off later this summer.
