3. Safety Not Guaranteed
A deft combination of romance, comedy, and science-fiction, Safety Not Guaranteed features a a trio of acutely honed performances by Aubrey Plaza, Mark Duplass, and Jake Johnson. Smart and driven by the hopes and regrets of the lead characters, the film is touching and funny when you least expect it.

2. Prometheus
Contrary to what many apparently thought, Prometheus was never designed to answer every lingering question, but to start us on a journey of forming our own conclusions. Prometheus is a bold first step in that direction, filled with haunting, grande visuals and a story that is more than worthy of continuing the Alien franchise.
1. Your Sister's Sister
Leave it to Lynn Shelton to show how a romantic-comedy can defy its genre confines, simply by staying true to the characters. Emily Blunt, Mark Duplass, and Rosemarie DeWitt star in this satisfying, occasionally screwball comedy about three people in an unusual love triangle while stuck together in a lakeside cabin.

DVD Pick of the Week: Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
Look, nobody goes to a Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes flick looking for mystery. If that lesson wasn't learned after the first film, then Heaven help you. The sequel is bigger and much louder than the first, which Ritchie seems to think will make up for a half-hearted script. The real draw is and always will be the homo-erotic tag team banter between Holmes and his hetero lifemate, Watson. The chemistry between Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law is without question, and Jarred Harris makes for a delightfully sinister Moriarty.
