"We're not together. We're side by side." The once happy marriage between a tortured artist and his beautiful, movie star wife is put under the microscope in A Burning Hot Summer, the latest drama from French director, Philippe Garrel(Frontier of the Dawn). Monica Bellucci(Irreversible) and Garrel's son, Louis, star as the troubled couple who find new tensions and new passions when they are joined by another couple on a Roman holiday.
The newly released trailer gives me hope of seeing Bellucci in a quality lead performance again. It's unfortunate that she can't ever seem to land anything significant here in America, although she remains a major presence everywhere else. The trailer, however, is pretty flat and passionless, so I'm hoping she can rise above it. From what I've heard, the film starts off with a bang, and is told mostly through flashback.
A Burning Hot Summer opens in limited release and ITunes on June 29th....
