Trailer Time: 'Farewell, My Queen', starring Diane Kruger and Lea Seydoux

Marie Antoinette always gets a bum rap, especially in the movies. She never said that silly "Let them eat cake" line that's attributed to her, and on the big screen she's basically used as a symbol of decadence and careless extravagance. Sofia Coppola's underrated 2006 film tried to present in a slightly different way, showing that there was more to her than just some spendthrift with a flaky King for a husband.

French director Benoit Jacquot has a...slightly more salacious angle to take on the former Queen of France.  His upcoming film, Farewell, My Queen, has Diane Kruger(Wicker Park) starring as Marie Antoinette during her final days before she and her family try to flee the French Revolution. Apparently, she spent that time lusting after the ladies in her life, including her favourite gal, played by Virginie Ledoyen(A Single Girl). Lea Seydoux(Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol) plays one of her servants who makes the ill-fated decision to stick by Marie Antoinette as the revolution closes in. Bad call, Ripley.

Kruger wouldn't exactly be my first choice to play Marie Antoinette, but she looks capable enough here. Costume dramas like this almost always look great, and that's certainly the case here. I'm curious to see just how far this goes. Do we actually see Marie Antoinette putting her desires to action? We'll find out when Farewell, My Queen hits theaters on July 13th.
