Michael Ealy and Regina Hall may join Kevin Hart in 'About Last Night' remake
Screen Gems knows a good thing when they see it. They scored a surprise hit with the romantic comedy, Think Like A Man, by casting a number of talented folks traditionally relegated to supporting duty. The film clicked with more than just urban audiences, and nearly cracked $100M on a meager budget. The studio was eager to stay in the Kevin Hart business afterwards, locking the comedian up for a remake of Ed Zwick's 1986 film, About Last Night. Now Michael Ealy and Regina Hall, two of Hart's Think Like A Man co-stars, are in talks to join as well.
Originally based on a David Mamet play, About Last Night follows a Chicago couple who meet through friends, quickly hook up, then start a turbulent relationship that effects everybody they know. Hart is set to take on the role last played by Jim Belushi, that of the male lead's mischievous best buddy. Ealy would play the male lead, while Hall is circling the role of the female lead's best friend. The role of the female lead is still wide open, but would anyone be surprised if another Think Like A Man cast member was being considered? There's no denying the heat Ealy and Taraji P. Henson were able to generate, and she would seem like an obvious choice. What about Gabrielle Union?
Leslye Headland(Bachelorette) is penning the script while the search for a director continues. At this point, you'd have to think Tim Story would be at the top of the list, but Screen Gems may want him for their planned sequel. [Variety]
