* Now here's something worth getting excited about. Cameron Crowe, the man who makes earnest and heartfelt comedies like last year's We Bought a Zoo and the classic Almost Famous, teaming with Emma Stone, the most charming and likable young actress in Hollywood. I love the movie already and I don't know shit about it. Sony has acquired Crowe's latest script, with Stone attached to star. While details are scarce, some are saying the film is actually a revitalized version of Deep Tiki, a film Crowe was set to helm back in 2008 with Ben Stiller and Reese Witherspoon. In case you forgot, Deep Tiki would have had Stiller playing a former soldier turned military contractor who, along with an uptight military liason, must get the blessing of Hawaiian tribal leaders before a satellite launch can take place. If this new project is truly Deep Tiki, then Stone would likely be in the role formerly occupied by Witherspoon. [Deadline/Variety]

* Speaking of long developing projects, the heist comedy Pierre Pierre has been moving at a snail's pace for years, but last we heard it was set to begin filming this summer. Larry Charles(Borat) was set to direct, and Jim Carrey was lined up for the lead role, but now he's out and has been replaced by Russell Brand. Any hope of this being a funny film just got flushed. The story follows an arrogant, chain-smoking, foul-mouthed Frenchman who takes on a job transporting the stolen Mona Lisa from Paris to London. Why? So he can have enough cash to move out of his parents' home. [Variety]

* I might be alone in this, but I always take Latino Review reports with a big spoonful of salt, but since we've long suspected(and had Simon Pegg backing it up) that Edgar Wright would shoot Ant-Man next year, I trust them on this. The site reports that Wright will shoot the comic book film, and integral piece of Marvel's Phase Two plans, late next spring or early summer. Filming would take place in London, after Marvel is wrapped up on Thor: The Dark World. That would mean Wright isn't going to have much time after shooting The World's End with Nick Frost and Simon Pegg. Marvel appears to be targeting a 2014 release for Ant-Man, but I'm sticking by my guns that they hold it for early 2015.
