1st footage from that long-delayed 'Red Dawn' remake

This year will see the release of two long delayed genre projects starring Chris Hemsworth. The first was the awesome and under appreciated Cabin in the Woods, and in a few months we'll get that remake of Red Dawn nobody wanted, starring a virtual who's who of stars who have since gone on to bigger and better things.

We're getting our first look at some footage from the film, although it comes courtesy of those Entertainment Tonight folks who like to blather on over top of it so you can't hear anything. Completed way back in 2009(!!!), Red Dawn fell victim to MGM's financial woes and has sat on the shelf ever since, but that doesn't mean changes weren't made to it. You might recall early last year that the decision was made to change the invading army from Chinese to North Korean, probably because somebody at FilmDistrict(who now own the flick) figured out that China is a huge market. A little digital tweaking of flags here, a few costume changes there, and "Voila!", fresh new North Korean adversaries.

A remake of the 1984 "Oh shit America's under attack!" cult fave, this Red Dawn stars Hemsworth, Connor Cruise(Tom's son), Isabel Lucas, Josh Peck, Adrianne Palicki, Josh Hutcherson, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and follows a group of patriotic young Americans who take up arms when their town is overrun by foreign invaders. The original is almost insufferably jingoistic, but it has its charms, mostly due to the cast which would grow up to be huge stars in their own right. Based on this footage, director Dan Bradley along with screenwriters Jeremy Passmore and Carl Ellsworth look to be following the exact same model.

Look at it this way, they can now sell the film solely on the backs of Hemsworth and Hutcherson, who are far more popular now than they were three years ago.  Red Dawn finally makes its way into theaters on November 21st....
