Well, because I can't always get what I want - read: never get what I want, ever - Romulus Thread has been cast in Catching Fire, and sadly for me, it ain't Ben Foster or Mark Strong. Ah, a girl can dream.
Instead, the role has gone to Patrick St. Esprit, who I know from the hit FX show Sons of Anarchy, where he portrays somewhat corrupt rich guy/ranch owner Elliott Oswald. On Sons of Anarchy, St. Esprit's main responsibilities include alternatively butting heads with the motorcycle gang (when they ask for money) and needing their help (to get some biker justice for his raped daughter), but the actor has a long career that also includes roles on other TV shows like Saving Grace and The Chicago Code and last year's Super 8. In J.J. Abrams's flick, he played "Weapons Commander," so maybe that's good training for playing jerkoff District 12 Head Peacekeeper Romulus Thread?
So, here's my question: Are they really going to include Romulus Thread whipping Gale in the film adaptation of Catching Fire? Because, if so, get ready to hate Patrick St. Esprit, fangirls. Get ready to hate him soo much for messing with Liam Hemsworth's pretty body.
And in other Catching Fire news, it looks like Jennifer Lawrence is finally going to get stupid paid: According to The Hollywood Reporter, she's supposedly negotiating a $10 million fee for this sequel, after only getting $500,000 upfront for playing Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games. I'm sorry, what? $500,000 is chump change, so negotiate away, Jennifer! Upping your fee 20-fold is a nice way to throw your weight around, and if Kristen Stewart can command $20 million for each The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn installment (gag), why can't Lawrence get just as much? Let me be your female life partner, J. Law. Let it happen.
St. Esprit joins Lawrence and other Catching Fire newbies Lynn Cohen as Mags, Jena Malone as Johanna Mason, Amanda Plummer as Wiress, and Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee; the film will be released on Nov. 22, 2013. Mark your calendars and adjust your lives accordingly.
