Dwayne Johnson may be New Line's 'Badass for Hire'

If you're looking for someone to play a character described as the "ultimate bad ass", you can probably do worse than Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. After buying Chad Kultgen's script way back in 2008, New Line is finally kicking Dan Mintner: Badass for Hire into gear, and they want Johnson to take on the lead role.

The film has been bouncing around with little movement ever since, unless you count Phil Claydon(Lesbian Vampire Killers) being briefly attached to the directing gig. His name is nowhere to be found in TheWrap's report on Johnson's potential involvement, so that's a definite plus. The film is described as an action comedy, really more of a guilty pleasure throwback about the titular hired gun who goes off on a rampage when an old military colleague is kidnapped.

Sounds like the perfect showcase for Johnson, who I think has the perfect combination of natural charm, charisma, and physicality than anyone working today. He's currently filming Fast Six, and judging by all the set photos we've seen he's having a pretty good time.

Shooting on Dan Mintner: Badass for Hire is being targeted for 2013.
