Michael Fassbender takes aim at 'Jane Got a Gun' with Natalie Portman

Michael Fassbender as an ornery gunslinger? Yes, can we get that right now? The red hot actor has done a pretty good job of juggling blockbusters like Prometheus with smaller stuff like Fish Tank and Shame. Natalie Portman is another who likes to dip her toes in both arenas, and now the two of them may have a chance to work together for the first time in Lynne Ramsay's promising new Western, Jane Got A Gun.

The small budget film features a Black List approved script by Brian Duffield, and has the previously cast Portman playing an Old West woman whose husband is shot up by his former gang. She's forced to turn to a hard-ass ex-lover to take up arms and protect her household when the men come to finish what they started. Fassbender would play the man Portman turns to for help, and you know the two are gonna hook up. Come on, they have to. Seriously, how awesome does this sound?

Filming is being targeted for early next year, so let's hope a deal can be worked out to bring Fassbender on board. Ramsay, who recently directed the psycho-kid thriller, We Need to Talk About Kevin, doesn't normally see her movies get much in the way of mainstream play. But with the combination of Fassbender and Portman, Jane Got a Gun is almost certain to be the biggest hit of her career. [Vulture]
