Joe Manganiello joins Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sam Worthington in 'Breacher'
Rememember when True Blood's hunky werewolf, Joe Manganiello, was in the mix to play Superman in Man of Steel? Seems like forever ago, right? Well, just hitting the final list of contenders(his schedule prevented his getting the job) seems to have worked wonders for his career, as he's been showing off his pecs in everything from the unfortunate What to Expect When You're Expecting to the surprisingly deep Magic Mike. Now he's landed another major role that will have him working alongside two of today's biggest action stars.
Manganiello is in talks to join the cast of Breacher, a *shocker* cop thriller from David Ayer(Street Kings, Dark Blue) that currently stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sam Worthington. Based on Agatha Christie's Ten Little Indians, the film follows a DEA task force who rob a cartel safe house, only to find themselves getting picked off one-by-one after thinking they got away with the job. Manganiello will play a guy named Grinder, who has a change of heart and tries to contact the cops. Dawn Olivieri(House of Lies) and Terrence Howard co-star.
Written by Skip Woods(X-men Origins: Wolverine), production kicks off in October. You can still find Manganiello slogging through another horrible season of True Blood. Can they spin his character off into something else, please? Or just kill him off so he can do more movies? [THR]
