Trailer Time: Judd Apatow's 'This is 40'

Judd Apatow continues to put his personal life front and center with This is 40, a sorta spinoff/continuation of Knocked Up that shifts the focus to Pete(Paul Rudd) and his wife, Debbie(Leslie Mann). As the title suggest, the approaching big four-oh has the couple, who we already know have scads of marital issues, eying the future and reflecting on the choices they've made in the past. Pete's tendency to avoid confrontation hits a new high, while Debbie is worried more than ever about losing his youthful vigor.

A new trailer for the film has been released, and to me it looks like the natural evolution of Apatow's career, adding increasingly mature and dramatic themes while trying to maintain some of the sophomoric gags that made him popular in recent years. Hopefully he gets the mix a bit better than he did with the uneven Funny People.

Charlyne Yi, Chris O'Dowd, Megan Fox, Albert Brooks, John Lithgow, Jason Segel, Lena Dunham, and Melissa McCarthy co-star. This Is 40 hits theaters on December 21st, thrusting into the awards season where maybe it'll get a little love? Check out the trailer below...
