Kathryn Bigelow's 'Zero Dark Thirty' gets a teaser trailer

Yes, yes, yes. Zero Dark Thirty may be the one movie coming out this year that we all know the least about, and yet, how could you not be excited for Kathryn Bigelow's upcoming flick? (That's her up there, filming!) Her first work after her Oscar-winning The Hurt Locker (take that, ex-husband James Cameron and everyone who liked Avatar), Zero Dark Thirty is about the special ops mission to kill Osama bin Laden, and it's certain that Bigelow will get a bunch of attention for it. (Of course, even before its release, right-wing media pundits have been sure to criticize the movie as little more than a plug for President Obama.)

But like, really? Set that political agenda-pushing aside and check out the teaser trailer, which is brief - 1:15 - but includes glimpses of a fair amount of the stupendous cast, including Jessica Chastain, Mark Strong, Chris Pratt, Joel Edgerton and Kyle Chandler (the most handsome football coach who has ever lived). The redacted intro over the Columbia Pictures logo is a nice touch, as is the use of night vision.

With all hopes the movie will end up being like Bigelow's The Hurt Locker and the similarly good terrorist-themed Body of Lies, both of which were emotionally resonant and pretty thrilling action-wise. I'm crossing my fingers, etc. Zero Dark Thirty will be released on Dec. 19, 2012.
