Target to sell high-end 'The Hunger Games' capsule collection

OK, here at Punch Drunk Critics we don't really post about clothes, shoes or makeup (some of my favorite things!). But I'm going to make an exception today with the news that Target is releasing a super-limited-edition, very expensive capsule collection of The Hunger Games items to coincide with the film's Aug. 18 DVD release. Because a disc of the movie JUST ISN'T ENOUGH.

If you consider yourself the queen or king of the fandom - and you have the funds to match that royal title - sit yourself down at your computer on midnight Aug. 18 to snag some of the items, which, according to Entertainment Weekly, will include a 14-carat-gold version of Katniss's Mockingjay pin (for $999); a copy of her brown leather jacket (for $349), handed down from her father; and a lithograph print (for $699) signed by Katniss, Peeta, and Gale themselves. Or, the actors Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Mr. Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth, if you finally have to admit to yourself that The Hunger Games characters aren't actual people. Back to reality, etc.

There will only be about 100 of each item available and they'll only be sold for three days, so you better spend that money while you can. Or, if you're looking to be more budget-conscious, you can check out the other merchandise Target will also roll out on Aug. 18, including school materials like backpacks, home goods like bedding, and even life-sized cardboard cutouts. One each of Cinna, Caesar Flickman, and Seneca Crane for me, please! And Peeta, too, I guess. Hutcherson > Hemsworth.
