Man, Meta Golding is pretty. She kind of looks like Freida Pinto, no? Golding's hair - so shiny and glossy! Her skin - it's flawless! And her teeth - well, expect her teeth to be filed down to points in Catching Fire, which Golding will join as District 2 victor and all-around mean lady Enobaria. The better to eat you with, my dear.
Don't remember Enobaria? Well, you should, since she's described as overwhelmingly heartless and brutal, and it's suggested that she served as the mentor to District 2 career tributes Cato and Clove- who tried so mightily to kill heroine Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, if you recall. In Catching Fire, the 75th Hunger Games brings Enobaria together with Katniss, Peeta, and all the other former Hunger Games champs, and Enobaria is infamous. She did, in fact, rip out a competitor's throat once with her teeth, and now keeps them filed as sharp points to serve as a reminder to everyone else. That's basically the clearest way to say, "Step off," I think.
This is nice news for Golding, who has a history in figure skating and theater, graduated from Cornell University, and been a steady presence in various police shows like NCIS and CSI. Catching Fire is definitely Golding's biggest break, and she'll be joining other newbies Patrick St. Esprit as Romulus Thread, Lynn Cohen as Mags, Jena Malone as Johanna Mason, Amanda Plummer as Wiress, and Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee. Catching Fire comes out on Nov. 22, 2013.
