So what's the verdict on The Guilt Trip? It's a hard movie to gauge at this point, and could be either a dark blemish this Christmas Day or a touching, Apatow-esque family comedy. While I'm no big fan of Barbara Streisand in.....well, anything, the idea of her kickin' it with Seth Rogen has me intrigued at what they can do as a comedy pair. With the newly released clip, I'm thinking this may be a film worth spending some time with, but my opinion could always change later.
The minute-long clip shows Rogen unenthusiastically inviting his mother(Streisand) along on his cross-country road trip to sell a new product he invented. His real goal is to reunite her with a long lost love, but she doesn't know any of that is obviously shocked at being asked to tag alone. It's certainly charming, and looks exactly like what one should expect from Dan Fogelman, who wrote the Crazy Stupid Love script. Anne Fletcher(27 Dresses) is directing, which is cause for concern, but with a supporting cast that includes Adam Scott, Dale Dickey, Yvonne Strahovski, and Colin Hanks even she shouldn't be able to screw it up.
The Guilt Trip opens on December 25th. Check out the clip below....
