Isabelle Huppert, Denis Lavant and David Cronenberg(!!!) to star in Don DeLillo adaptation 'Body Art'
If asked what two of the flat out weirdest movies of 2012 were, the first two which immediately spring to mind are Leo Carax's Holy Motors, and David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis. The latter was an adaptation of Don DeLillo's Odyssean novel, but both films share some structural similarities as well. So I guess it makes sense in a way to have major components of both films reunite, only this time Cronenberg will be making a rare appearance in front of the camera.
Variety reports that Cronenberg, Holy Motors' Denis Lavant, and the great Isabelle Huppert (Amour) are set to star in an adaptation of DeLillo's novel, The Body Artist. Renamed Body Art, the film will be written and directed by Luca Guadagnino (I Am Love), so you know it will probably look gorgeous at the very least. I don't think Cronenberg's acted in anything substantial since Jason X, if you can really call Jason X substantial.
Huppert will play a woman grieving after the suicide of her film director husband, who discovers that a mysterious man is living in her house upstairs. While there aren't any further specifics on the roles, Cronenberg seems like a natural to play the late husband, right? And Lavant can surely play the creepy dude without much of an issue. Filming is set to begin this summer,
