In a few weeks we may be talking about Jessica Chastain the Oscar-winner for her stellar performance in Zero Dark Thirty, but it looks like whatever happens that night she'll continue to take on challenging roles. In fact, her next gig will see her replacing a past nominee in the new film by Ingmar Bergman's muse, Liv Ullmann.
Variety reports that Chastain has replaced Michelle Williams in Miss Julie, an adaptation of August Strindberg's stageplay. A pretty awesome combination, but it gets even better as Colin Farrell and Samantha Morton will be joining her. Set in 1874, the Swedish tale concerns a young woman at a Count's estate, who attempts to break free of social constraints while falling in love with a senior servant. It marks the first post-Oscar nominated film for Chastain, and Ullmann's first directorial effort since 2000's Faithless. She's been directing a Cate Blanchett and Joel Edgerton in a stage version of A Streetcar Named Desire.
Chastain recently starred in the horror, Mama, and has The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby coming up opposite James McAvoy. She apparently has a lot of offers on the table so we may be hearing more news about her soon. Farrell will be starring alongside Noomi Rapace in Dead Man Down, and recently wrapped Disney's Saving Mr. Banks.
