Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace will team up for 'Child 44'

There's just no getting in-between Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace, they're just that inseparable. Late last year the two signed up for an adaptation of Dennis Lehane's Animal Rescue, while at the same time both were circling a big screen take on Tom Rob Smith's Cold War-era novel, Child 44. It must be beautiful weather outside, because they've decided to play two.

THR reports Hardy and Rapace will take the leads in Child 44, which is produced by Ridley Scott and directed by Safe House's Daniel Espinosa. Based on the true story of Ukranian serial killer the Rostov Ripper, the film follows a disgraced MGB agent(Hardy) investigating a series of child murders that may have connections leading right to the top of Stalin's regime.  Rapace will play the agent's mysterious wife. It's the first book of a trilogy, so there's even some franchise potential if all works out.

Filming on Child 44 will begin once they wrap up Animal Rescue, which shoots in March.
