First things first...why are code names so cool? Olympus Has Fallen (Olympus being the code name for the White House) sounds infinitely cooler than, say, White House Down. If you need more evidence you'll get it in the trailer below. Olympus Has Fallen is Gerard "Leonidas" Butler's first real action movie since 2009's Gamer and it would appear that Olympus will be a vast improvement over that well meaning but poorly executed CGI-fest. Butler plays Mike Banning, a Secret Service agent that is removed from the President's detail after...well, you'll see that in the trailer... Some time later terrorists take over the White House and hold the President hostage. I'll bet you can't guess who the only person able to stop this threat is? If you said folk music hero Elvis Costello, well than you'd be completely wrong and honestly in need of help...where would you get Elvis Costello from the hints I gave you, really? Anyway, Mike Banning is the only hope of saving the president and stopping the threat.
I almost didn't want to believe it but the trailer actually looks like a lot of fun. I'm sure that out of a sure sense of American...well I say confidence but some people choose to say arrogance, I am almost certainly going to have a hard time believing the White House could be taken over. Still, it looks like the action is going to be top tier enough to make me suspend disbelief for 90 minutes. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think!
