1st image and voice cast for Henry Selick's 'The Shadow King'

It's funny how quickly things can change. After a good deal of recent trouble, famed animator Henry Selick (Coraline) saw his fortunes do a 180 yesterday when K5 International (via Bleeding Cool) announced they would be financing his stop-motion feature, The Shadow King. Now it appears they've already begun to promote it, revealing this new image which hints at the darker aspects that likely drove Disney to drop it last summer.

K5 has also revealed the voice cast, and I assume there will be more additions in the future. It's still an impressive group...

Jaden Betts as Hap
Pamela Adlon as Richard
Brendan Gleeson as Darce
Jeffrey Tambor as Cuzzie Bell
Catherine O’Hara as Miss Fern

That's clearly Hap and Richard in the image, and the guy making the shadow puppets is probably Cuzzie Bell. He kind of looks like a Tambor.

Here's the plot synopsis that was revealed yesterday.

The Shadow King is a deliciously magical tale about nine-year-old New York orphan Hap who hides his fantastically weird hands with long fingers from a cruel world. But when a living shadow girl teaches him to make amazing hand shadows that come to life, his hands become incredible weapons in a shadow war against a ravenous monster bent on killing Hap’s brother Richard and ultimately destroying New York.
