Could Keri Russell rejoin J.J. Abrams for 'Star Wars: Episode VII'?
There's the possibility that J.J. Abrams' Star Wars film could have a female lead character, it's too early to tell what Michael Arndt's script entails. But it was recently suggested that back when Matthew Vaughn was in contention for the directing gig, he pitched having his Kick-Ass star Chloe Moretz as the star. So like I said, there's the possibility. Abrams has a fairly consistent working relationship with one female in particular, his Felicity and Mission: Impossible III star Keri Russell.
While talking to TV Line about her new FX show, The Americans, she was asked about possibly joining Star Wars, and indicated she'd do pretty much anything if asked....
Russell: "It spoiled me to work with JJ and Matt (Reeves) [on Felicity]. Not only do I love them as people because they're so funny and easy and good but they were just so talented. I've worked on other projects and you get the script and you're like 'but why isn't it good'.
When asked about who she'd play, she said....
"Anyone he lets me play. I'm waiting for my call", she jokes. I would do anything for JJ, honestly I would do craft service."
Russell also was rumored for Star Trek back in the day, but that deal obviously fell through. Clearly, she and Abrams have a strong working relationship, but is it strong enough to take her to a galaxy far far away? I kind of like the idea of Russell as a bad ass Jedi Knight. Maybe she can team up with Abrams' other muse, Alias' Jennifer Garner?
