New trailer for 'Family Weekend' with Kristin Chenoweth and Matthew Modine

Watching last night's Academy Awards red carpet pre-show, you might have gotten the impression that Kristin Chenoweth was just some squeaky-voiced bobblehead whose one claim-to-fame is that she's tiny. She's a phenomenal talent, although her best work is reserved for Broadway than the silver screen. It's still a good a time as any to unveil the trailer for her latest film, the comedy Family Weekend.

Chenoweth stars as a career-oriented mother who, along with her artist husband (Matthew Modine) have been neglectful of their overachieving daughter, played by High School Musical's Olesya Rulin. Fed up with her parents, the daughter decides to take them hostage until they shape up. Co-starring Joey King, Eddie Hassell, and The Partridge Family's Shirley Jones for some reason, the film looks like a cross between Election and 1996's House Arrest. Rulin resembles a young Scarlett Johansson, and Chenoweth looks as if she's enjoying herself, but this one will probably be come and go without anyone noticing.

Directed by Benjamin Epps, Family Weekend opens on March 29th.
