New trailer for 'Writers' with Logan Lerman, Greg Kinnear, and Lily Collins

Writers boats a cast that any director would give up their kid for: Greg Kinnear, Logan Lerman, Kristen Bell, Jennifer Connelly, Lily Collins, along with a festival-ready premise surrounding a group of writers experiencing life and love to enhance their craft. So why didn't the film draw more attention when it debuted last year in Toronto? And what does that mean for its future prospects?

Millennium Entertainment picked up the rights and will release the film soon, and in preparation a new trailer has landed online. The story mostly follows a single family, with Kinnear as the Dad and Connelly as his ex-wife, while their children experience sex in totally different ways. It's interesting to see Collins playing a friskier, more provocative role than the goodie-two-shoes we're used to, while Lerman appears to be channeling the same awkwardness from The Perks of Being a Wallflower. In general, the reason why this film may not have garnered much attention is that it's so generic and too much like a thousand other art house comedies.

Written and directed by Josh Boone, Writers opens in limited release on April 19th.
