First poster for 'R.I.P.D.' with Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges
The fortunes of R.I.P.D. seem to have risen and fallen right along with Ryan Reynolds career. He joined the comic book adaptation during a time when he was red hot, with Green Lantern on the way, a Deadpool film in development, not to mention a starring role in Safe House with Denzel Washington. Well...two out of those three films went nowhere fast, and while Safe House did solid business, Reynolds was mostly overshadowed in it.
But the film is still heading into theaters this summer, although you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who knows or cares. The story is actually pretty cool, and I liken it to Hellboy in a lot of ways. Reynolds plays Nick Walker, an undead cop in the Rest In Peace Department, who teams up with a deceased Old West gunslinger played by Jeff Bridges. The two not only fight crime pertaining to the supernatural, but also go on the hunt for Nick's killer.
The trailer trailer will hit the web later this week, but for now we've got the first poster which....well, it even features Hellboy-ish guns. Otherwise it's kind of bland. Directed by Robert Schwentke with Kevin Bacon and Mary-Louise Parker co-starring, R.I.P.D. opens on July 19th.
