* Following on the recent confirmation of Julianne Moore to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, the latest actress to come aboard is American Horror Story's Lily Rabe. In the two-part finale she'll play Commander Lyme, a District 2 victor who joins the rebels in their fight against the Capitol. Directed by Francis Lawrence, Mockingjays 1&2 open November 21st 2014 and November 20th 2015.
* Speaking of small screen actresses jumping to the big, Laurie Holden (The Walking Dead) has landed the female lead in Dumb and Dumber To, joining stars Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels. She'll play “the well to do wife of a doctor who is up to no good and who plans to use Harry and Lloyd to cover her tracks.” The story has the two dullards learning one of them is the father of a child in need of a kidney, and going on a road trip to meet the kid. The Farrellys are back to direct, and it should be ready in time for the 20th anniversary next year.
* It's been a great year for Riz Ahmed already, having given an incredible turn in The Reluctant Fundamentalist before appearing in the terrorism thriller Closed Circuit. Now he'll join Jake Gyllenhaal for the crime film, Nightcrawler. The directorial debut by Dan Gilroy has Gyllenhaal as a driven young man who discovers the nocturnal world of L.A. freelance crime journalism. Ahmed will play his protege and driver, with Rene Russo and Bill Paxton in supporting roles. [TheWrap]
