Morgan Freeman, Vincent Cassel, and Olga Kurylenko Gain 'Momentum'
Clint Eastwood doesn't seem to be winding down his career in the least, with Jersey Boys on the way and his continued efforts to mount a remake of A Star is Born. But we've also seen that some who have been working with him behind the scenes are looking to follow in his footsteps. His long time producer Robert Larenz made his directorial debut last year with the baseball drama Trouble with the Curve, and now Stephen Campanelli, Eastwood's camera operator since 1995's The Bridges of Madison County, is helming his first film.
Campanelli has rounded up an impressive cast for his debut feature, Momentum, with Olga Kurylenko, Vincent Cassel, Morgan Freeman, and Shea Whigham starring. Written by Adam Marcus and Debra Sullivan, the action-thriller has Kurylenko as a thief on the run from the law and a gang of assassins led by Cassel. No word on Freeman or Whigham's roles yet.
It's a reteaming of Freeman and Kurylenko, who starred earlier this year in the Tom Cruise sci-fi flick Oblivion. Eastwood has a very economical, no frills approach to the projects he undertakes, and we saw Larenz use much the same style with 'Curve'. Campanelli had a few things to say about working with the screen legend, and it sounds like he'll put everything he's learned to similar use....
Campanelli: "For the last 20 years, I've been blessed to work with one of cinema's greatest story tellers, Clint Eastwood, as my mentor. Now, I will be making the leap to where I really belong, as a director, with the feature film Momentum."
Filming will begin next January in Cape Town, South Africa. [Variety]
