The first red band trailer for the film has been released, following up on its premiere during the Directors' Fortnight at Cannes. Liev Schreiber leads a solid ensemble including Olivia Williams, Romola Garai, and Elias Koteas (Casey Jones!!!!), in the story of astronauts whose mission to Mars uncovers evidence of bacterial life that proves to be deadly.
In his directorial debut, Robinson seems to be drawing on a number of tried 'n true sci-fi influences, and that seems to be one of the reasons the response out of Cannes was mixed. But the trailer suggests a wild ride if nothing else, and at the very least it looks more entertaining than Ghosts of Mars.
