Chloe Moretz to Star in Sacha Gervasi's 'November Criminals'

Everything seems to be falling into place for Sacha Gervasi at just the right time. He rolled the success of his rock music documentary Anvil! into a major Hollywood production with Hitchcock, which turned out well for him and led to Anthony Hopkins getting an Oscar nomination. And while his Fantasy Island film My Dinner with Herve probably won't get going any time soon, despite having having Peter Dinklage and Dominic Cooper circling it, he's taking on another project just as promising with a lead actress already in place.

Gervasi will direct November Criminals, an adaptation of Sam Munson's 2011 novel that sounds a little bit like Rian Johnson's Brick. The film, originally adapted by Steven Knight (Eastern Promises), follows high school student Addison Schacht, who delves into the Washington D.C. teen underbelly to solve the mysterious death of a friend. While there's still no one in place to take on the role of Addison, Chloe Moretz has been set to play his best friend Phoebe aka "Digger".  Gervasi will also rewrite the script, and he's taking over for Lisa Cholodenko (The Kids Are All Right) who was initially attached to helm, but dropped out to tackle an HBO project.

Considering the term "November criminals" has to do with the idea of someone being stabbed in the back, we can probably expect a lot of double-crosses and betrayals to be a part of the story. The plan is to start production in early 2014.
