Dustin Hoffman Joins 'The Cobbler'; Lake Bell to 'Man Up'; Katie Chang Takes 'Anesthesia'

* Because Grown Ups 3 is at least a couple of years away (you know it'll happen, right?), Adam Sandler is doing one of those dramatic films that remind us he can really act when called upon to do so. He's starring in Tom McCarthy's The Cobbler, which recently added Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey) to the cast, and now the latest to join are Dustin Hoffman and Steve Buscemi. Sandler plays a small town shoe repairman who becomes part of his clients' lives. Basically he gets to "walk a mile in their shoes", so to speak. [TheWrap]

* The beautiful and multi-talented Lake Bell (In a World....) has joined Simon Pegg in Man Up, a comedy written by Tess Morris and directed by Ben Harper (The Inbetweeners). Bell plays Nancy a single woman "who’s mistaken for a stranger’s blind date en route to her parents’ anniversary, leading to her finally finding the perfect boyfriend." Sounds pretty blah, although we can probably count on Bell and Pegg to punch things up a little.

* The Bling Ring star Katie Chang will go from west coast crimes to east coast ones in Anesthesia, the next directorial effort from actor Tim Blake Nelson. The overstuffed ensemble stars Kristen Stewart, Sam Waterston, Glenn Close, Corey Stoll, Gretchen Mol, Michael K. Williams, Gloria Reuben, Jessica Hecht, Mickey Sumner, and K. Todd Freeman in the story of "New Yorkers whose lives intersect after the violent mugging of a popular Columbia University professor."
