Penelope Cruz and Emile Hirsch are War-Torn Lovers in Trailer for 'Twice Born'
Despite the pairing of Penelope Cruz and Emile Hirsch, there wasn't a lot of buzz surrounding Twice Born after it played in Toronto a few months back. An impressive trailer debuted around the same time and suggested a substantial, ambitious wartime romance from director Sergio Castellitto. The film is certainly flying under the radar as its release date nears, but the latest look may be enough to get it some attention.
Based on the book by Castellitto's wife, Margaret Mazzantini, the film has Cruz playing single mother Gemma, who flies to Sarajevo with her teenage son for an exhibit of photographs by her former lover, an American killed during the Bosnian War. Cruz seems to have the largest dramatic burden to carry, playing Gemma both in flashback and the present day, and the chemistry she shares with Hirsch is palpable.
Twice Born is set to hit VOD and theaters on December 6th.
