Jackie Chan Could Team with Mel Gibson for 'Dragon Blade'
Despite Jackie Chan making a big show of Chinese Zodiac at Comic-Con a couple of years ago, the film never really got a significant release here in America. However, the film still topped out at $145M worldwide, so it was hardly a dud. With Chan readying a return to family-friendly stuff with The Karate Kid 2, he's also lined up historical action flick, Dragon Blade. While that's not a big deal, his co-star in the film just might be.
Chan revealed his participation in Dragon Blade at the Beijing International Film Festival, teasing the other lead as a big name Hollywood star....
Chan: “All I can say is that he’s a foreigner -- an A-list Hollywood star, a big name."
The rumor is that it could be Mel Gibson, which in a way would continue his run of odd career choices in an effort to remake a ruined image. Teaming up with the popular Chan could do the trick. The big-budget film will be directed by Daniel Lee (Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon), and follow Roman soldiers who get lost in ancient China. The plan is for Dragon Blade to hit 3D IMAX theaters internationally on on February 19th 2015. [THR]
