James Wan Eyed to Direct Adaptation of His Comic 'Malignant Man'

Although he's busy directing Fast & Furious 7 right now, James Wan will always be known as a horror filmmaker of some acclaim. He can count the Saw movies, The Conjuring, and Insidious as part of his impressive resume, but what some may not recognize is that he also dabbled in the world of comic books for a time. A few years ago he co-wrote Malignant Man, a four-issue series at Boom! Studios which combined the horror and superhero genres. And that combination has proven intriguing to 20th Century Fox as they have now picked up the film rights as a potential directing vehicle for Wan.

Here's the official Malignant Man synopsis...

"Alan Gates, a cancer patient with a terminal diagnosis, is resigned to his fate, until he discovers that his tumor is actually a mysterious parasite! Granted a second lease on life and incredible, otherworldly powers, Alan must fight against an evil army buried beneath society's skin, all the while unlocking the secrets of his forgotten past."

Wan has passed the directing reins on Insidious: Chapter 3 to his longtime pal, Leigh Whannell, so he could conceivably take on Malignant Man after Fast & Furious 7 wraps.  [Deadline]
